Safer gambling
Oddify Tips publishes predictions. Predictions are opinions, and every bet can lose. This page is about keeping betting something you enjoy rather than something that costs you.
The one rule that matters
Only stake money you can afford to lose entirely. Not money you expect back. Not money that is doing another job — rent, school fees, food, someone else’s money. If losing the stake would change your week, the stake is too big.
Tools your bookmaker already has
Set a deposit limit
Every licensed bookmaker lets you cap what you can deposit per day, week or month. Set it once, while you're calm, and it holds.
Set a time limit
Reality-check reminders tell you how long you have been in the app. Most operators have them under responsible gaming settings.
Self-exclude
You can block yourself from an operator for a fixed period or permanently. They must honour it, and it cannot be undone early.
Warning signs
- Betting more than you planned, or more often than you meant to
- Chasing losses with bigger stakes to get level
- Borrowing money, or betting money meant for bills, rent or food
- Hiding how much you bet from people close to you
- Betting to escape stress, boredom or low mood
- Feeling restless or irritable when you try to cut down
Recognising one of these is not a verdict on you. It is a reason to use the limits above, and to talk to someone.
Getting support
If betting has stopped feeling like a choice, talking to someone helps more than trying to manage it alone. Start with a person you trust, and with your bookmaker’s responsible gaming settings, which can lock the door for you while you get some distance.
In Uganda, the Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board oversees licensed operators and can point you to current support services. Your operator is also required to tell you how to self-exclude — that information sits in their responsible gaming section.
Betting is addictive and can be harmful. Nothing on this site is a guarantee, and no tipster wins every time. Never stake more than you can afford to lose.
